Did you know you could get free lino samples…? me neither but you can! In the post and winging it’s way to me now are 4 different types of lino. Very useful as i hadn’t considered that lino has texture, and different depths, all these little things make sourcing a piece of lino much more complicated!!!

Close up of my dyeing pot, bubbling away with the washer going full blast in the background, would like to play with the sound a bit more to tie into the visuals, plus I want to slow the video down in post and distort it slightly – something to play with…

Screen print day

So my first day in the screen print studio, I loved it, my screens looked really good and this is the moment before the first squeegee pull.
On lifting the screen, the print looked great, love the texture that had come through with the processes that got this image to this point.
Another go at printing the three screens together and I decided to go from light to dark back to front as the dark back screen didn’t have the right feel for me.
I really like the way this one turned out.
After the screen printing it was time to play with dyeing and devore, the result of this was amazing, lovely and clean in all areas of applied image, and the blue dye really complemented the strong blocks of colour that I had built up.
This last piece was an accident, I had applied the devore paste onto the wrong fabric, so before doing the hot press I dyed it to try and wash the paste out. Instead of the cotton falling to pieces it acted like a resist for the dye and produced a subtle faded effect, which was fab.
Last picture is of everything I did today, the good, the bad and the excellent accidents!
