Looking through some old ted talks, I came across Aparna Rao and this fascinating TED talk about some of the art pieces she was working on last year (August 2013) her art work is playful and puts no barriers between the viewer and the art. The art itself senses movement…

A small explanation of Max Fleischer and his technique and patent for his invention of the rotoscope… Max Fleischer The Rotoscope and Koko the Clown – Koko’s Earth Control Amazing to think that in 1939 he was using 3D diaramas for his painted cels to be filmed in front of…

When the Disney short ‘Paperman’ came out last year I watched it and thought it looked great, but not until now have I investigated how it was made. Fascinatingly they created it in full 3D cgi animation and then hand drew the lines back over it to give it a…

Been wanting to make time to throw bigger for ages and today was the day 😁 1kg of Special Fleck, a more sturdy clay and attempting to make some vases. So I’m aiming for 20cm high and some traditional elegant shapes. I really enjoyed just focusing on a little challenge to myself even if the clay did fight back and splatter my face at one point 😂 How did I do? 🥰 #wheelthrown #pottery #ceramics #playwithclay Fabulous sunny day for a bit of Raku, look at these gorgeous pieces, mostly experimental but my lovely lady came out perfectly. I am over the moon with these results 🤩 These will be coming to my next two craft markets! @cretaceous_creations_ @brewnorfolkandfriends #raku #ceramics #playwithclay #firemeup Getting a few things ready for another Raku fire and some more little bits and pieces for some upcoming markets. May 30th (Saturday) I will be in the newly refurbished St Andrews Halls and the first week in June (Sunday 7th) I will be back in the forum for the summer ceramics fair! Hope to see you there! @brewnorfolkandfriends @cretaceous_creations_ #pottery #ceramics #playwithclay Glaze firing with very mixed results, but after my kiln failed me last week, I’m very glad to see all of the results finally finished, good or bad. 🤞 very very pleased with my painted sunset, wasn’t sure if the underglaze silhouette elements might bleed, but it looks great, will definitely do some more of these 😊 And after my blue porcelain beaker has been sat bisque fired on the shelf forever I finally took the plunge and painted it, the blue just pops! Then 2 cups misbehaved, what a shame the green glaze is gorgeous but ran WAY too much and the beer mug has empty spots, so might try a refire on it. #pottery #wheelthrown #handpainted #clayadventures Inspired by my sunrise photo I’ve hand painted the scene onto one of my tall bowls to see how it works… and I really like it, I might paint another! 🤩 #pottery #ceramics #wheelthrown #handpainted A super - but very cold - weekend at Shotley on a soda and salt firing weekend organised by @anglianpotters in memory of Paddy. #pottery #sodafired #saltfired #ceramics
