So my first day spent trying to rig my model, and it feels like I went 1 step forward and 3 steps back, the actual jointing all made sense and after watching the tutorial I created my leg joints. I quickly drew out the hip to knee to ankle joint…

After managing to create my first 3D model of the Bustard in Maya, it’s now time to test it through Aurasma. My trigger image is made and slightly updated using the full colour logo from the Great Bustard group. I think it works much better as a visual key as…

    Maya – UV mapping

After making my basic model in Maya, I really wanted to use the UV mapping controls to get some texture onto the model, to make it more realistic and to see just how complicated realising a virtual bird might be. I spent most of a day looking at how to…

Glaze firing with very mixed results, but after my kiln failed me last week, I’m very glad to see all of the results finally finished, good or bad. 🤞 very very pleased with my painted sunset, wasn’t sure if the underglaze silhouette elements might bleed, but it looks great, will definitely do some more of these 😊 And after my blue porcelain beaker has been sat bisque fired on the shelf forever I finally took the plunge and painted it, the blue just pops! Then 2 cups misbehaved, what a shame the green glaze is gorgeous but ran WAY too much and the beer mug has empty spots, so might try a refire on it. #pottery #wheelthrown #handpainted #clayadventures Inspired by my sunrise photo I’ve hand painted the scene onto one of my tall bowls to see how it works… and I really like it, I might paint another! 🤩 #pottery #ceramics #wheelthrown #handpainted A super - but very cold - weekend at Shotley on a soda and salt firing weekend organised by @anglianpotters in memory of Paddy. #pottery #sodafired #saltfired #ceramics Last few days to see over 50 potters work all together in the Undercroft Gallery in Norwich. @anglianpotters - See if you can spot mine 🤩 #gallery #ceramics #norwich #undercroftgallery Sushi night on Saturday night and we realised we needed some divided bowls for the condiments… if only I knew someone who could make something like that 🤣 So a little bit of thinking about how I want them to look, classy, clean and elegant. That decided that I should be brave and open up the blue porcelain I bought a while ago and have only used once 👀. It’s really different/tricky(ish) to throw with as it’s so soft and any minor wobbles just amplify. I’ll need to add the dividers later and not sure how the porcelain will handle that - but I guess I’m gonna find out! #wheelthrown #porcelain #playwithclay #pottery This week I have labelled, listed, packed and delivered a selection of my lovely Raku pieces to be in the @anglianpotters Undercroft Gallery exhibition alongside over 50 other fabulous potters and artists. Private view is Friday night (13th) starts at 6.30pm. Open for two weeks so make sure to come and see all of the pretty things and see if you can spot any of my pieces 😊 last photo is a very silly photo of me having fun with clay even when it all goes wrong 🤣#wheelthrown #pottery #playwithclay #ceramics #anglianpotters
